Day 7 Week 1 reflection

This week I learned to listen to my body as I had been doing a lot of physical activity that made my muscles sore. By listening to my body I mean taking the time to stretch, figure out what fuels my body, and understand that it's a process to do all this challenging work so it can take a toll on my body. However, I’ve really enjoyed taking time for myself to create these habits so that I am able to carry them through my summer and to college. Prioritizing mental and physical health sounds simple, but many of us don't do this enough. I've learned from talking to my peers about they're coping strategies that most of them don't take the time to fully prioritize themselves. While this can be difficult at boarding school, it is a crucial part of staying in a happy and healthy state of mind as well as physical well-being.

For the most part, everything went as planned this week, besides a little rain but I powered through. I knew I would have lower hours at the beginning of the week due to my AP exam and travel time. However, I have planned out the rest of my hours for Senior project and know that I am capable of completing my 75 hours.

By timing my 1-mile run at the beginning of the week, I was able to create workouts that I have been doing to make my body stronger so that when I re-take the 1-mile run I am more likely to have a faster pace. Something that I will work on more next week is making sure I run earlier in the morning, that way the sun is less of an annoyance to me. In the spring I had been going on runs at school so my body was able to adjust to these longer runs here at home, but I hadn't been lifting this spring so my legs have felt very heavy these last few days as I've picked up weight progression.

One of my favorite aspects of this whole project has been taking the time to cook new recipes. Before this project, I would stick to the same Basics when I’d make any sort of creation in the kitchen. Now, I have learned a couple of different new ways to spice up your traditional smoothies, salads, and breakfast dishes. Overall, this week has been a great start to my senior project on healthy habits and I hope that next week goes even better!
